Asking for an advice

Dear Dr. Cosme

I hope you can help me with a terrible problem I recently got. I lost my dog “Freddy” last month and I can’t find it. I made a lot of things to find it but all was useless. I miss him so much and I’m completely depressed, but on the other side I can’t have a new dog: I just don’t feel that is the right thing to do. I don’t know what to do because I miss my dog, but I don’t get used to the idea that I lost him. I can’t move on and I can’t buy a new one because I feel I’m failing “Freddy”. I desesperatly need your advice, I hope you can understand me, let me know what you think soon.

Sincerely

Diego

Discover Callao the first harbor of Peru

The autonomous and constitutional province of Callao is located in the central coast of Peru bordering with Pacific Ocean (or “Grau Sea”) in the west. Next to Lima, with an increasing economic development and with a demographic density of 6.797 resident per Km2 , it is one of the most booming cities in the country and it is the pride of our republican history: on its coasts thousands of Peruvians fought for last time with the Spanish army for our independence, in the combat of “2”.

This zone has been inhabited since the first people arrived to South America, being fishing the principal activity. With the Spanish conquest it transformed in the principal harbor of the Colony. In 1671 it was given the category of city. Attacked by the pirates sometimes this port became the most important in the Republic and today it is the principal place for our international commerce because there it is also the international airport “Jorge Chavez”.

The principal activities are the commerce and the fishing that takes advantage of the big diversity of our sea: all kinds of fish, crustaceans and mollusks that live in the sea.

Being Callao a coast zone with an excellent and temperate climate, it is very advisable to visit its beautiful beaches in La Punta, but be careful because they’re all rock beaches. You can also go to different tours: like go to a boat tour in Cantolao or visit Chucuito and their beautiful old and colorful houses (If it is Tuesday, you can go to a famous salsa festival, where you can eat delicious dishes and dance a lot). If you like history tours, you can go to the impressive castle of “Royal Felipe” built for protection from the pirates that threatened the Peruvian coasts, or to the national museum of naval history where you can see amazing photos and boats parts. You have to visit the amazing “Abtao” submarine, an old piece of our naval army, bought by Leguia in 20’s. If you like luxury, you must take the yacht tours in the “Yatch club” of La Punta or if you’re a sportive person, take some time to go skiing or to practice some nautical sports like rowing and optimist. You alsohave to visit , the Grau square, the monument of our emblematic character.

If you like the good food, go to the ancient and traditional bars where you can drink a good beer and eat some snacks. You must taste the pejerrey sandwiches and the famous “choritos a la chalaca”. You can’t miss the sea food restaurants where you can taste our delicious food we recommend you the ceviche, tiraditos or the jalea.

Before you leave, be sure to see a sunset in the beach, the most beautiful thing in Peru. When you come to Peru make sure to visit Callao the warm people will be waiting for you, it will be an experience that you’ll never forget!
